So, how do we keep feeling upbeat even when times might be tough and downbeat? \u00a0Other than using a watermelon as a smile, let\u2019s see what else can be done.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Upbeat Task #1: \u00a0Figure It Out<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Give your business a quick once over.\u00a0 Are you keeping in close touch with your customers?\u00a0 How is your marketing campaign? Do you have your finger on the pulse? Recharge your business battery by doing something fun! \u00a0A realtor in town packages goodies each month for her customers who have yet to find their dream homes. For September, she attached her business card with curly ribbon to a mug filled with sweet tea bags and silk multi-colored leaves. \u00a0This simple gift reminded customers of her efforts and autumn\u2019s cooler weather! <\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Upbeat Task #2<\/b><b>: \u00a0Identify a Positive<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes when skies are gray and sales are low, we spiral into negative thinking. \u00a0Those chill the spirit and need to be warmed up with something positive. Reflect and focus on what is going right! \u00a0Did you meet someone recently who just loved your product and service? Give that person a call or an email &#8211; ask for a referral. \u00a0Did your last ad get noticed by new customers with its bright colors and sassy hook? Repeat an effort like that with a new twist and update. \u00a0Have you gotten your home office more organized and can find things in an instant? There\u2019s certainly some glory in that!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Upbeat Task #3<\/b><b>: \u00a0Say Thanks<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ironically, appreciation generates thanks! People love being thanked &#8211; we all do! So, how can you thank your customers? \u00a0Do you have a sale coming up? News of a product that will wow them? Give them first dibs. \u00a0Reward them for being loyal. Keep tabs on their preferences and interests and give them a way to get more &#8211; and because of your attitude of gratitude, they can do so before everyone else. \u00a0Thank them and they will be thanking you. Give them what they want and they\u2019ll spread the word.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b>Hey! \u00a0What About Me?<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s well and good &#8211; an article about keeping a business endeavor upbeat. \u00a0What about me? Let\u2019s apply these marketing boosts to you, too. <\/span><b>Figure it out: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0if you are feeling blue, find out why. \u00a0Narrow it down. Is it something you can fix? \u00a0If not, is there some other change you can make it so you don\u2019t focus on it so much? \u00a0<\/span><b>Identify a positive: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0what do you like best about your life right now &#8211; what is going well? \u00a0What is something you\u2019ve learned lately? What changes have you made? <\/span><b>Say thanks: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0that attitude of gratitude ripples outward. \u00a0What are you grateful for? What makes you smile?<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that you\u2019ve got that smile on your face, keep it on there &#8211; even when it may feel like a watermelon up close to your face. \u00a0Remember the nugget of wisdom Dale Carnegie shared long ago: \u201cIf you want to be enthusiastic, act enthusiastic.\u201d By convincing others, you\u2019ll convince yourself. \u00a0Carnegie also reminds us that \u201cWe determine our happiness. It is governed by our mind.\u201d So, keep that in mind and think happy thoughts. And lastly, \u201cEverything you do sends a message. \u00a0Determine the message you want to send the world.\u201d Mull over all of this &#8211; smile in the mirror &#8211; and keep that chin up.
